Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Police say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then located multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials state early analysis indicate the fluid was likely human blood.
"There is still no lead as to its source; officials are not yet informed of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they commented.
City officials stated they were attempting "to solve the case" and have requested to the public for tips.
A high-ranking representative said the incident left him speechless and required to be resolved quickly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a shooter focusing on people of migrant background in February 2020.
